How would you convince a person wearing nostalgia glasses to play the newer pokemon games?

I admit I got trapped in the nostalgia of the generation 1 & 2 games & am afraid to buy the remakes of the 4th generation (HeartGold & SoulSilver). For some reason, it doesn't seem right playing a remake of a game that I enjoyed so much & included most of my favorite pokemon. HG/SS are probably great games (especially judging from what I heard), but yeah...
